ONE NIGERIA REQUIRES ONE PATRIOTIC NIGERIAN

Our Home, Our Heritage, Our Pride
Nigeria over the years has experienced and witnessed several challenges towards our hard earned democracy. Nigeria under the Yar'adua administration was to an extent able to curb the militant uprising in the Niger Delta following the amnesty program. Today the country is however bedeviled with the Boko-Haram saga and other socioeconomic problems. I can go on an on in highlighting the economic, political and social upheavals Nigeria has had to deal with from its foundation. But that however is not the purpose of this discuss.

I grew up in small suburb in Lagos, multi-tribal in characteristic and clumsy in space. As a young boy growing up, i could see the level at which parents, uncles, the elderly and neighbors took pleasure in cursing out Nigeria at every slight instance. For example, like when the then NEPA will turn on the lights after several weeks of blackout, like when all of a sudden the price of fuel increases, like when Super Eagles refuses to win a football match and so on. The sad thing about it is that, they do not even mind speaking ill about Nigeria right infront of we young lads. Right from an early age, we young ones then had come to see Nigeria as a country that can not be depended on, as a country which gives little or no concern about her citizens, as a country where its citizens thrive so hard  to run away from to settle in a developed country. My subconscious adapted to the idea of what my country has to offer me rather than what i have to offer my country, from that young age i had lost patriotism in Nigeria, thanks to the unpatriotic environment i found myself. Beleive it or not, this unpatriotic idealogy has been passed from generation to generation and it still continues till date. The question is how long shall we remain unpatriotic to our home land, letting this sick idea lay the foundation for corruption and underdevelopment.

Lets bother ourselves on the concept of patriotism. Patriotism is an emotional attachment to a nation which as an individual recognizes as their homeland. This attachment, also known as national feeling or national pride, can be viewed in terms of different features relating to one's own nation, including ethnic, cultural, political or historical aspects. It encompasses a set of concepts closely related those of nationalism.

Our Objective

  • To bring back patriotic the spirit of our founding fathers
  • To create a love Nigeria mindset
  • To restore and instill patriotism in our teenagers and youths.
  •  To discourage parents from speaking ill of Nigeria in the presence of their children.
The Big Question
  1.  What went wrong with Nigeria ?
  2. Are we truly united or strange bed fellows ?
  3. Is Democracy impactful to our existence ?
  4. How did coruption start in Nigeria
  5. Can #LOVE NAIJA restore patriotism in Nigeria ?
We shall continue this discuss in our next post.

Reards.
